Most emergency identification cards may not provide first responders and/or medical staff with all of the vital personal information needed to provide the best care for patients.
Some medical information cards may provide a password or a QR code comprising a link to a location on the web pointing them to find additional personal health information stored online somewhere.
However, the additional personal information is often not updated by the patient and not presented and/or transmitted in a format that is compatible with the data tools used by first responders on scene. Medical ID’s that require network connectivity are not useful in most cases which makes the patient vital information unavailable when needed most. Although some personal information may be provided through a mobile device, first responders may not be able to locate the mobile device in an emergency or access all of the personal information required if the mobile device is locked, damaged or missing. EMS professionals are required to gather certain information during every emergency call. Help them help you by having all of your information ready in a readable format with a MEIDC ID.
